{"id":14,"date":"2017-11-06T20:49:53","date_gmt":"2017-11-06T20:49:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/bcswomenlovelace.bcs.org\/?page_id=14"},"modified":"2017-11-06T21:57:14","modified_gmt":"2017-11-06T21:57:14","slug":"bcswomen-lovelace-colloquium-2009","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/bcswomenlovelace.bcs.org\/?page_id=14","title":{"rendered":"BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium 2009"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The second BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium was held in the University of Leeds on April 16th 2009, and over 80 women from 25 different univesities registered for the event.<\/p>\n<h3>Speakers:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>BCS President Alan Pollard<\/li>\n<li>Gillian Arnold (IBM)<\/li>\n<li>Eileen Brown (Microsoft)<\/li>\n<li>Karen Groenink (Google)<\/li>\n<li>Prof Cornelia Boldyreff (Lincoln)<\/li>\n<li>Dr Julie Greensmith (Nottingham)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Poster contests winners:<\/h3>\n<p>There were two poster contests &#8211; Open Choice for students presenting on a topic of their choice, and Original Project Work for posters about computing systems and projects completed entirely by the students, such as final year projects.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>Open Choice<\/strong> contest went to Alexa Alexandru of the University of Essex, and the <strong>Original Project Work<\/strong> to Gemma Warnock of Aberdeen. We also had a &#8220;<strong>People&#8217;s choice<\/strong>&#8221; awards in each category, where everyone got to vote for their favourite: these went to Nuhzah Gooda Sahib of Queen Mary University of London for original project work, and Penny Broadhurst of the Open University for open choice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The second BCSWomen Lovelace Colloquium was held in the University of Leeds on April 16th 2009, and over 80 women from 25 different univesities registered for the event.
